Traditional craft, carried into the digital age
Mingdeng Atelier Co., Ltd. was born in Hualien in 2020, devoted to temple objects and religious craft. We believe traditional craft should not remain in the past — it should endure into the next century in a finer, more lasting form, through the technology of our time.
Traditional Sculpture · Modern Precision
Our artisans know intimately the stylistic differences between the Quanzhou school, the Fuzhou school, and Taiwan's own temple carving. When modelling, they work in digital space with the feel of a carving knife — not by data alone. Every stroke has its lineage.
And a 0.04mm SLA print precision allows details all but impossible in traditional technique — the strands of a dragon's whiskers, the folds of a robe, the lines of a taiji — to be rendered again and again with a thousand times the consistency of the hand.
Dotting the Eyes · The Rite of Consecration
A deity statue is not complete by craft alone. We insist that every piece, before it leaves the studio, receives its eye-dotting consecration from a temple keeper or the presiding deity's medium. Craft gives the piece its form; consecration gives it its spirit.
This step can be replaced by no technology. It is our deepest reverence for religious craft — however fine the vessel, it never usurps the deity it serves.
An Heirloom · Lifelong Care
We offer the possibility of long-term maintenance and restoration, so that a piece keeps its rightful texture and dignity as the years pass.
Should a piece develop natural oxidation, changes in colour, or wear over time or with its environment, we can provide return-to-studio inspection and restoration as appropriate (such as re-gilding, refurbishment, or upkeep), with cost assessed case by case.
This is an extended maintenance option, not a warranty commitment.
